كانت الولايات المتحدة تنتج أفضل الأسلحة ولا تتردد في منح إسرائيل أحدثها، لذلك نجحت تل أبيب في وقف تقدم القوات المصرية والسورية سريعا وانتقلت فيما بعد إلى الهجوم فنجحت في استرداد أغلب الأراضي التي خسرتها ونشطت الجهود الدولية لوقف القتال وتقبل الطرفان فكرة وقف إطلاق النار.
